Gemma Bellworthy is the charity treasurer and accompanying founding member.

Gemma has a lifelong passion for swimming and has been teaching for 18 years.  "Setting up the charity has enabled us to remove alot of the barriers to swimming that many people face. Working on this first hand has been a humbling and very rewarding process".

Sam became a trustee for the Splashing Stars Swim Charity through her involvement with Aquathlete.

"It is an absolute pleasure to support the work of such a truly dedicated team, who go above and beyond to provide access to swimming for as many individuals as possible."

Sam is an Early Years teacher in a Derbyshire school.  She has many years of experience working with children with a range of physical disabilities, learning difficulties and other barriers to learning.

Gaynor is a trustee and truly believes in all that splashing stars is about . As a business person she knows how much goes in to creating something from scratch especially something brand new like splashing stars. Bringing changes to people’s lives that otherwise may not have had the opportunity that being in a safe and calm pool gives them . The untold benefits of this charity will be life changing for many swimmers young and old and as a person who has seen the affects of hidden disabilities first hand with a parent who suffered from Alzheimer’s for six years and a son diagnosed with autism at 11 Gaynor is passionate about anything that can help find an inner peace and a place individuals from all walks of life can feel free for at little time each week.  The work that Jo and Gemma have put in to this project is heartwarming and their determination has never wavered. Being a trustee is a privilege for such a committed team of people

Lynne Burchell is a trustee of Splashing Stars.

I work part time as an accounts manager for a complementary therapies health centre and am a full time mum to 3 daughters.  I first met Jo about 7 years ago when my youngest daughter started swimming lessons with her. My daughter has complex needs and is unable to access public swimming pools. Splashing Stars provided the opportunity for her to swim safely and comfortably. Splashing Stars is  unique,  providing many children with the opportunity to swim that they otherwise would not have .  Swimming is so important for children with additional needs. As well as the physical benefits , it can help with emotional and mental health. In my daughter’s case, it is the only time she has complete freedom of movement and she loves being able to move in the water independently.

Splashing Stars welcomes children of all ages and abilities and provides a caring and supportive  environment for them to learn in,  and I am very proud to be a trustee of such an exciting and inspiring charity.
